Celebrating our 2024 STEM Scholarship Recipients

  • August 31, 2024

We’re thrilled to announce the recipients of our 2024 STEM Scholarship! At Wallbank Industrial, we believe the future of manufacturing is making an impact through people. We are honored to provide this inaugural scholarship to students in our Port Huron community and invest in the future of STEM and the next generation of innovators.

Who is Wallbank Industrial?

Wallbank Industrial consists of two unique manufacturing companies: PJ Wallbank Springs and Edison Manufacturing and Engineering. Both currently serve the automotive and mobility industries and have exciting growth plans to impact other markets. While their work is very different, both companies are founded on the same principles and core values. Wallbank Industrial is focused on making an impact through people. This starts by engaging with our local schools and supporting students in the pursuit of their dreams.

Congratulations to our 2024 Scholarship Winners

Thank you to all who applied to our STEM Scholarship! We awarded $1,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years, to four outstanding Port Huron Schools students who are enrolled at a college or university pursuing a degree in a STEM related field.

Our recipients have shown exceptional promise in their pursuit of STEM fields while also embodying our core values – they treat others with respect, take ownership of their education and experiences, challenge the status quo, and embrace opportunities to win or learn. Our leaders had a chance to celebrate with recipients and their families during our scholarship dinner.

Learn More About our 2024 STEM Scholarship Recipients:

Amelia Mills: Amelia is planning to attend Michigan State University studying civil engineering. We are excited that Amelia is planning to move back to Port Huron after graduation to serve our community in her professional career. Hear why Amelia chose engineering, “I have grown to love the field of engineering. Engineering is one of the most sustainable and rewarding careers, not only to self but most importantly for the impact of human welfare.”

Gabi Hudson: Gabi is planning to attend Ferris State University studying chemistry and minoring in mathematics. Gabi has applied our value of “win or learn” in her FIRST Robotics experience mentioning, “Together, we navigate the highs and lows of competition, knowing that each experience contributes to our growth as individuals, closeness as a team, and as a collective force in the robotics community.”

Kate Kohl: Kate is planning to attend Ferris State University studying Manufacturing Engineering. Kate is also a member of the FIRST Robotics community and an intern at PJ Wallbank Springs. She has embodied our value of “treat others as you would want to be treated” saying, “I do my best to connect with everyone and foster a sense of unity among all my team members.”

Luke VanderHeuvel: Luke is planning to attend the University of Michigan studying Engineering. Luke has demonstrated great leadership skills as the Captain of the Cross-Country team. “Every practice I talk to all of my teammates about their goals within running, but also outside of running, and offer advice from my own experiences on how to accomplish those goals.”

We also acknowledge and celebrate the parents, families, and schools for your support in helping these young minds grow. This scholarship reflects your impact!
