Why Early Career Engineers Are the Future of Manufacturing

  • August 6, 2025

The future of manufacturing won’t be built by accident. It will be built by the people who show up, ask the hard questions, challenge assumptions, and bring ideas to life…again and again.

We believe manufacturing should be more than making products. It’s a place where people grow, where innovation thrives, and where the work we do creates a ripple effective of positive impact.

We’re here to raise the bar for what manufacturing can and should be. And engineering is at the heart of it.

The way our products and processes are designed and executed sets the foundation for everything downstream. It enables an exceptional workplace for our operations team. It results in business success that allows us to invest in our team and our community. It serves as the platform for our team members to grow into the best versions of themselves.

The next generation of engineers will have a big impact, within our four walls and beyond.

That’s Why We Invest In Early Career Engineers.

We’re intentional about attracting and growing the next generation of problem solvers. At our core, we’re a team of builders. Building meaningful products, meaningful opportunity, and people who want to make an impact.

As a small, manufacturing company, we don’t have layers of bureaucracy or big-name brand recognition to rely on. What we do have is a highly capable team, a bold vision for the future, and a belief that early-career engineers are the future of manufacturing.

We also have a strong desire to surround ourselves with people who are hungry, humble, and smart. People who are coachable. Who run to (not away from) hard problems. Who are ready to roll up their sleeves and learn by doing.

If you want to solve real problems, do work that matters, and grow fast by being surrounded by people who’ll push and support you, this is the place.

Our Ideal Early Career Engineers:

1. Bring energy and a fresh perspective.

We want early career engineers who ask exceptional questions. The questions that seasoned professionals might stop asking. The questions that pull from the unique experiences and perspective that come from youth.

Who challenge “the way it’s always been done” with respect and curiosity and help us avoid falling into habits that no longer serve us. Who observe before they judge. Who understand that new ideas matter but so does understanding why our current practices exist.

The combination of humility and initiative is what moves us forward without losing what already works.

2. Are “learners” not “knowers.”

We’re not interested in hiring people who think they’ve already arrived. We’re building a team of learners: people who know they have room to grow and are excited to do so. This is true throughout our organization, and it particularly applies for early career individuals.

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that the manufacturing world is evolving. Quickly. And that our ability to win long term depends on our ability to adjust and capitalize on the opportunities that emerge, now.

We need engineers who are coachable, driven, and open to feedback.
That mindset is gold in a business like ours.

3. Bring the kind of grit you can’t teach.

Let’s be honest, manufacturing isn’t glamorous. It’s challenging, fast-paced, and full of constraints.

For the right people, that’s what makes it rewarding.

The early career talent who thrives here are the ones who want to get their hands dirty. Who light up when they’re solving real problems with real consequences. Who don’t just want to make PowerPoints. They want to make our products, people, and processes better.

4. Want to help us build a legacy.

We don’t just hire for what someone can do today. We hire for what they can become.

By investing in early career engineers, we’re building our leadership pipeline and shaping the kind of team we want to be five, ten, twenty years from now.

We’re not interested in being average. We want to be the best at what we do, which requires a team of people who are committed to building something meaningful, together.

That’s why this is more than a job. For the right people, it’s a calling. It’s a chance to build a career, contribute to a mission, and shape the industry.

5. Thrive in environments like ours.

One of the advantages of being a small company is that early career talent doesn’t get boxed into a narrow role.

Here, early career engineers:

  • Take ownership from day one
  • Get real exposure to real challenges
  • Work alongside people who want to see you win
  • Are trusted and pushed to grow, not just told what to do

This kind of hands-on experience accelerates growth. It gives a deeper understanding of how our business works and how contributions matter. And it helps us identify the right people to take on bigger challenges over time.

Qualities We’re Looking For

We look at resumes. But more importantly, we want to understand how you think and behave.

That is, are you…

  • Hungry enough to ask questions and take initiative?
  • Humble enough to listen and learn?
  • Smart enough to solve hard problems and simplify complex ones?
  • Coachable enough to grow at a fast pace?
  • Hands-on enough to own the work and get it done?

You’re Our Future

Early career talent is one of our most important investments. Why? Because we’ve seen what happens when the right people join us.

They change the game.
They raise the bar.
They build the future of our business.

We’re developing, mentoring, and growing the next generation of manufacturing leaders. If you’re hungry to learn, eager to contribute, and ready to roll up your sleeves, we want to help you get there.

If this sounds like you, reach out to me, and consider joining our Mentorship Cohort for coaching and advice from leaders in our industry who’ve been where you’re headed.

We’re ready to invest in your future. Just like you’ll help shape ours.
